Shadow Work

Dancing with my demons

They are behind me

Grind me

Sometimes inside me

When they go through me

Not sure if they are me

Part of me

Reflection of me

Secrets will haunt me

Residue of old me

Meet them

my friends

My homeboys, my bad guys

Ugly but honest

They are what makes you want me

To be your lover not your wife

The crazy sexy cool me

Teach me how to go through pain

Never around it,

endure it, internalise it

Quiet in a corner

Most of the time

But when out to play

A raging storm, a dark forest, at night

Undefined in size and shape

Grown with every insult

Each time some form was added

Powerful

They lift me up

Twirl me high in the sky

Hair in face and mouth

Some black birds screek

Branches break of trees

So cold it goes through skin and into veins

Back down on the ground

Some power left behind

Blood a little colder

Fear: a whole lot less
